SIRÍ is a collaboration between choreographer Marco da Silva Ferreira and film director Jorge Jácome, which started in 2016 with the project ÍRIS, and had a second stage in 2020. With this piece Marco da Silva Ferreira questions his choreographic work with the living body (contemplating dance as a way of analogical expression) and Jorge Jácome questions the way he has worked in capturing images of the invention of reality (using film as a way of technological expression).

The re-creation of human characteristics in technology is recurring: anthropomorphism, movement, abilities, functions; and we move towards a more abstract relation with objects that mirror (artificial) intelligence, emotions, affection, and so on. They are interested in the mirror of ourselves that we create in a transforming world

Using living bodies, stuffed animals, projections and mechanical devices, Marco da Silva Ferreira and Jorge Jácome think of movement not only through the perspective of a human that moves, but also as an energy that comes from the observation of reality and its reproduction. When we see robots “dancing” we quickly give them a quasi-human condition: its movement is similar to a human body that circles, tilts and spins. However, placed side by side with a human they become competitors, comparing limits and exposing a conflict.

Images are the only thing: they are the only thing that exists, and they are aware of themselves in their own fashion — floating, passing images, with no one to pass in front of; relating to one another through images of images. - Johann Gottlieb Fichte
