Westerse films dienen Jeremy Nedd en de Pantsula-kunstenaars van Impilo Mapantsula als speculatief uitgangspunt voor nieuwe verhalen en mythen. Met zijn performer’s lasso creëert Jeremy Nedd een dialoog tussen twee tegengestelde werelden terwijl hij zijn vruchtbare samenwerking voortzet met Impilo Mapantsula, een internationaal netwerk van kunstenaars die werken aan het behoud van het levende erfgoed van pantsula.

De western als filmgenre maakt gebruik van zeer expliciete stijlfiguren rond de held, de “ander” en het uitgestrekte, lege landschap waar ze over vechten en dat ze bewonen. Een aantal personages en beelden uit deze clichés zijn diep verankerd geraakt in de collectieve verbeelding, maar dit zijn zeker geen beelden van Pantsulas…..

How a falling star lit up the purple sky is een dynamisch visueel gedicht dat een paradigmaverschuiving voorstelt, het idee van het archetype heroverweegt en hopelijk uitnodigt tot een herwaardering van de psychische en geografische ruimten die worden ingenomen door de Western, het (Wilde) Westen en het Zuiden.
